Bored at looking at the same four walls ? Need a boost ? This won’t cost a penny. Create a change, be it temporary or permanent and add a new positive energy to your home. It will most certainly give you vitality to inspire you to do other things.
Pick 2 or 3 rooms. Have the mirrors, paintings, wall art, clocks and photos always been in the same place ? Yes ?BE BRAVE TAKE THEM ALL DOWN !
Place them into 3 areas.A) your favourite items, must haves and mirrorsB) bored, don’t like, do nothing for meC) don’t know (Auntie so and so gave me this so I should …..)
Ignore Pile B) for the moment…
Pile A – take action)Firstly look at where the natural daylight is coming from in each room. Can you maximise this by placing a mirror opposite ? if not perpendicular to receive a boost of light at some point during the day. We all know that daylight is a mood enhancer. Now what can you see in the reflection of the mirror ( other than your gorgeous self). Place an item you want to see or a painting you love so you can see it twice, the real one and the mirror image.
Where do you sit and relax ? Place your most favourite painting, wall decor, photo or grouping of these and position these in your eye line from that relaxing area.Do experiment by grouping items together – they don’t have to match. It is visually more stimulating if they don’t. Remember this is for your household only and not to please anyone else. There is no right or wrong.Move wall decor into different rooms and keep moving round to different places until it naturally feels right to you. Use the hooks already left in the walls as temporary placements to get a feel before repositioning completely. Be patient this can take some time as it is good to view at different times of the day when the light changes. We have plenty of time to experiment.Look at your cherished photos on display. Are some of these now very outdated ? Do keep your favourites. Now with social distancing it is vital to keep a connection with friends and family. Print out and add / re-place with current up to date photos.
Pile C – Re evaluate. Have a look at the wall spaces you have left. Can you place them in other areas and mix and match ? Will they enhance, add something positive ? If not required or not helping add them to pile B.For the creatives among you Pile B can be a real treasure trove and be used to make a work of art ! Take a good look, is there any little bit you can re use ? A frame maybe ? Can an item be painted ? Modified ? Sprayed, glued ? Can you over-paint a painting to add more colour or add a new dimension ? Make a collage ? Have fun and be creative.Box the items you no longer require ready for your preferred charity when they re-open.
